Mother-in-law's slippers

I thought of this project when I was thinking of my upcoming trip to Kuala Lumpur. Since it is already year end, the weather has turned rather windy and cold. So I thought it would be best to knit my mother-in-law a pair of slippers to keep her feet warm. She is wheelchair bound and constantly have to prop up her feet on a chair. Her feet are normally cold caused by poor blood circulation. When I tested on her feet, she said "ngam ngam ho" meaning it is a perfect fit in Hokkien. I am so glad that she likes it and fitted perfectly. I like the yarn from Elann Sonata which has good stitch definition and texture.

Wishing everyone Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Lacy Shell

Yes! Another crochet shell which is such fun to crochet. I am falling in love with crochet again. This top was made for my friend, Alice and was completed within 6 days. I really love the wavy neckline and the lacy effect. The yarn used is Elann Lustrado Coffee Bean. It is a fine gauge cotton with a lovely twist and colour. I may crochet one for myself too...if I have the time.

Fong's Tops

These are two projects that I knitted for Fong sometime ago. The first top is the Brown Ribbons which have cables and slip stitch. The pattern was chosen by Fong from a stitch library. At first I was quite reluctant to knit it because it doesn't look very appealing to me. Since it is her choice, I had no say. So I reluctantly finish it while keeping my fingers crossed. It took me more than a month to knit because it was very tedious. When she came to pick up her top that day, her face was beaming. Phew! What a relief. I am so glad that she like it. She just love cables, the more the better.

The second top is the Olive Tunic. Fong specifically mentioned that she want crochetted edgings, so I crochetted the neckline and cap sleeves. It is an easy and fast to knit project knitted in the round on the body. The pattern for the cap sleeves was taken from a stitch dictionary but with slight modifications. It has less rows and stitches to suit the cap sleeves.

Hairpin Lace Scarf

I've always wanted to crochet a scarf with the hairpin lace loom that I bought on E-bay several months ago. When I was sick and couldn't fly to Kuching with my son, my sister-in-law took care of him. She also bought my son a shirt and my brother-in-law bought him two books. To thank her, I thought it would be nice to crochet a scarf as a gift for her this Christmas. The yarn is acrylic that has a shiny metalic thread running through it. I think it is lovely. What do you think?

Crochet Top

This is my crochet top that I did for my friend, Soon. It must have been years since I last crochetted a top. I love the pretty variegated colour of white, pink and purple. It turn out to be a very sweet and breezy top, suitable to be worn in our hot weather here. I bought the crochet thread from Paraguay Hilos. The crochet thread is very cheap and has very good yardage of 1,000 meters a ball. This is also a very quick and easy project which I completed in a week. The pattern is taken from Let's Knit Series Spring & Summer 2007 issue.

I also made a handphone case for Soon.
